DEVOUR

An interspecies collaboration between mycelium & humans

This was a collaboration project for Erica Chapman's Masters Industrial Design Thesis where I assisted in Patternmaking and Design Consulting.

Born from Erica Chapman's Industrial Design Thesis, Devour is a wearable ecosystem that merges fashion design with fungal intelligence to address the environmental crisis of textile waste. Through a series of garments, Ready-to-Wear, Event Wear, and Couture, the project explores how mycelium, a living fungal network, can colonize and begin to break down synthetic fabrics like polyester. Each piece reflects a deepening collaboration between human and nonhuman systems, transforming decomposition into both a biological process and a design method.

Devour invites us to reconsider our relationship with nature—not as a resource, but as an intelligence—and to reimagine waste as the beginning of something new: a shared act of transformation, rooted in reciprocity, responsibility, and mutual respect.
